You Can Help a Shelter or Rescue Organization

Sponsorship: Many organizations offer "Sponsor a Pet" programs, where your donation is earmarked to ensure a certain animal gets a health treatment, boarding, food or other special care. It's a neat way to get up close and personal with those who need you the most.

Volunteering: At the community level, animal welfare organizations always need the time and expertise of volunteers. Whether it's walking a dog, cleaning a cage, or helping with the accounting -- many animal shelters and rescue groups couldn't survive without the aid of volunteers.
